Your KYC status decides whether you can invest in new schemes. Here is what each status means and how to fix the ones that block you.

Before you can invest in a mutual fund, your Know Your Customer (KYC) record must be in place with a KYC Registration Agency (KRA). There are five KRAs — CVL, CAMS, KFintech (Karvy), NDML and NSE (DotEx) — and your record sits with one of them, visible to all.

The statuses you will see

  • KYC Validated. Your record has been verified against official sources such as the Income Tax database and Aadhaar. You can invest with any AMC.
  • KYC Registered. Your record exists and you can usually continue with AMCs where you already invest. For new AMCs, you may need to re-validate.
  • On Hold / Rejected. Something does not match: mobile or email not verified, PAN not linked with Aadhaar, or a document problem. Transactions may be blocked until it is fixed.

How to check

Enter your PAN on any KRA website. Our KYC page links to each one. The status and the reason (if on hold) are shown instantly.

Fixing an “On Hold” status

  • Link PAN and Aadhaar on the Income Tax portal, if not already linked.
  • Verify your mobile number and email with the KRA.
  • Submit a KYC modification with fresh documents if the address or name does not match.

No genuine KRA, AMC or distributor will ask for your OTP over the phone. If anyone does, do not share it.

Stuck? Send us your PAN on WhatsApp and we will tell you exactly what is pending.
